Estate Planning Begins With You
The estate planning process starts with the attorney and your meeting so that the ideals, dreams, and goals you have can be expressed. Our aim is to make you feel comfortable expressing your concerns and challenges so that we are able to work together to craft an estate plan that truly meets your goals. We communicate legal principles and methods in a manner designed to make it easier for you to understand and evaluate your options.
After consultation with you, we provide an overview of the legal landscape, and in most cases the attorney will make specific recommendations. At that point, you may engage our firm by signing a retainer agreement and paying a retainer fee to start building your legacy.
Step One: Preparation of Estate Plan Documents
Upon engagement of our firm, we will provide questionnaires to ensure that the specifics are captured. Using the information gathered from you, we draft the documents necessary to achieve your objectives with a detailed letter explaining what each document does, and how each document protects you. After your review of documents, we make ourselves available to educate and inform you further and discuss necessary changes. We then prepare the final draft for your execution, after your approval.
Step Two: Estate Plan Review and Explanation
We remain available to offer our expertise to ensure your estate plans remain current. You will receive a copy of our estate planning newsletter to provide information on relevant topics. Many of our clients also request that the firm keep a copy of their estate planning documents to make amendments to documents easier and also so that relatives may benefit from our expertise in the event of probate or estate administration.
